Reality television star Mickey Lee, one of the stars of the most recent season of CBS’s Big Brother, has died at the age of 35, per an announcement from her family.
The news comes days after her family revealed that she was in the ICU at the hospital and in critical condition after “a series of cardiac arrests” following flu complications.
In an Instagram post, the Big Brother 27 houseguest’s family says that she died on Christmas Day.
“Mickey captured the hearts of audiences nationwide through her appearance on Big Brother, where her authenticity, strength, and spirit left a lasting impression on fans and fellow cast members alike,” the post reads. “She will be remembered for the joy she brought into the lives of so many and for the genuine connections she formed both on and off screen. The family extends their deepest gratitude to everyone who has offered prayers, love, and support during this incredibly difficult time. Your kindness has been felt and is sincerely appreciated. As the family mourns this tremendous loss, they respectfully request privacy during this critical time of bereavement. Details regarding memorial services and arrangements will be shared at a later date. Mickey’s light, legacy, and impact will never be forgotten.”
Big Brother host Julie Chen Moonves wrote in an Instagram post, “Two months ago I interviewed Mickey Lee on God 101. That’s when she revealed to me that she was born with a hole in her heart, and as an adult she survived an ATV accident that should have killed her, but God kept her alive. Last night God brought her home 🕊️ Rest In Peace dear Mickey. I will see you again on the other side in eternity. I pray the good Lord comforts and heals your family and loved ones as we grieve your passing. Amen 🙏🏼.”
‘Big Brother’ stars react to Mickey Lee’s death
Big Brother alums, including co-stars from her season, have been posting tributes on social media to remember and honor her.
“We are beyond saddened by the news,” said Big Brother icon Rachel Reilly, who competed with Lee on Season 27, in an Instagram Story. “Thank you for bringing your light to the world. You will be missed. This doesn’t feel real. heartbroken that you’re gone. You’ll always have a place in my heart.”
Big Brother 27 winner Ashley Hollis posted on Instagram, “Shock, disbelief, a seemingly healthy, bright 35 year old passing is something you don’t think will happen ever. I will share more thoughts later but right now I don’t have words. Mickey was a bright light in this world, please pray for her family during this time. Christmas will never be the same for them. Love you forever Mickey.”
Another Big Brother icon, Danielle Reyes, wrote on X, “My heart goes out to the BB family on the loss of Mickey, especially during Christmas. While I didn’t know her personally, it’s clear she was deeply loved. Sending condolences, strength, and love to her family and all who are grieving. 🤍🕊️”
